What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Sitka Assembly of God based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Revelation

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit was sent as a gift to the church. This is shown in Acts chapter 2 as the church began to preach the gospel to all nations. The Holy Spirit was sent to empower the church, confirming the Word of God with miracles, signs, and wonders. This baptism is just as much for every believer today as it was for Paul and the disciples who walked with Jesus. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is evidenced through the Gifts of the Spirit as shown in Acts, Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, and throughout the New Testament.

Devine Healing

Wherever Jesus went, He ministered with compassion and healed the sick. Christ’s example showed an interconnection with salvation as many believed following their healing. Our Lord continues to heal today and it is vital that the church preach, teach and practice this biblical truth. Scriptures command believers to pray in faith and trust God for the outcome.

2nd Coming || Ressurection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth. With the world experiencing natural disasters, economic downturns and increasing uncertainties on many fronts, the doctrine of Christ’s Second Coming is more relevant than ever. Believers must rest in the certainty of the imminent return of our Lord and share this hope with others.

Missions

At the very center of the Gospel message is the Father's love for mankind. His willingness to send His one and only Son to pay a ransom for those lost and far from Him. Missions is at the heart of all we do for all ages. We believe every believer can have a part to evangelize the world by going, giving, and praying for those that have been sent.
